Bipolar I Disorder Exacerbation Following COVID-19 Vaccination

A 60-year-old African American female with previously stable bipolar I disorder (BD1) presented after three weeks of depressed mood, anxiety, and decreased need for sleep.  P atient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) - a  widely used tool for diagnosing depression was administered and her  score was 5. Her symptoms began within a week of receiving the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. 55-year-old male with no previous mental illness background presented with full-blown manic symptoms following a severe course of COVID-19 infections that required admission. The patient presented with behavioral disturbance after a diagnosis of COVID-19. He exhibited symptoms including irritability, verbal and physical aggressiveness, increased goal-directed activity, elated and expansive mood, increased energy, grandiosity and inflated self-esteem, and decreased need for sleep. With the diagnosis of bipolar I disorder, current manic episode, severe, with psychotic feature, and first manic episode due to COVID-19 infection, he was admitted to the psychiatry emergency ward. Psychosis following COVID-19 vaccination

A 45-year-old male was extremely reluctant to be vaccinated but was pressured at his workplace. The patient's unusual behavior began within five days of receiving the one-dose Ad26.COV2.S adenoviral vector vaccine. He became anxious, suspicious, paranoid, disorganized and complained of headaches. No neurological deficits were found upon examination. Two weeks after the COVID-19 vaccination, persecutory delusions and delusions of reference led the patient to suicide attempt by stabbing himself in the abdomen. After abdominal surgery, the patient was admitted to the Clinic of Psychiatry. In addition to paranoid delusions, the psychiatric evaluation revealed intrapsychic tension and low affect modulation. After two weeks of treatment, the patient's condition improved. 15-year-old boy commits suicide after cyberbullying for false rumor of being non-vaccinated

It’s heartbreaking what is happening in society right now . A 15-year-old boy enrolled at a prestigious private school had a promising future — that is, until his parents say he became a victim of relentless cyberbullying by his classmates. He  was initially targeted by a false rumor that he was unvaccinated. He was bullied relentlessly until he took his own life in January . The lawsuit filed on April 25, 2022 against the  Latin School of Chicago  alleges administrators at the private college prep school committed “willful failure” to stop the incessant bullying,  the Chicago Tribune reported . The Cook County filing named the school, several employees and parents of the alleged bullies as defendants. The late teen transferred to the school due to its in-person learning during the coronavirus pandemic, the complaint states.
